TESTER |
The H301 Environmental Control System (ECS)
Tester measures and displays parameters
required to test and troubleshoot aircraft
heating and air conditioning systems. These
parameters include temperatures, pressures, AC
and DC voltages, DC currents, and
resistances.
The ECS Tester consists of an instrument case
that contains all required instrumentation and
a wheeled accessory case that holds cables,
pressure hoses, adapters, and a temperature
probe.
Temperature System
The temperature measuring system operates from
platinum resistance probes and can measure
temperatures from -65 °F to +600
°F in 1 degree increments.
Typically, the ECS Tester measures temperatures
of the cockpit air supply, the avionics cooling
air, the manifold, and ambient air. A precise,
internally-generated temperature signal is also
available to verify proper operation of the
H301 temperature measuring circuitry.
Pressure System
The pressure measuring system includes four
different pressure transducers that measure
from 0 to 20 inch H2O
and from 0 to 15 psig, 0 to 60 psig, and 0 to
300 psig. A single pressure can be connected to
the 20 inch H2O
transducer, while four pressures, selectable by
deck-mounted valves, can be connected to each
of the other three psig transducers.
Multimeter
The ECS Tester also includes an automatic
ranging multimeter that permits the operator to
measure voltages, currents, and resistances to
aid in troubleshooting valves, controllers, and
sensors in the environmental control
system.
DC voltages connected to the SIGNAL INPUT
connector can be supplied to the MULTIMETER
either through switches on the deck or through
test jacks under the TEST POINT ACCESS door.
The OVERTEMP SWITCH, COCKPIT TEMP, AVIONICS
COOLING, and ANTI-ICE CONTROL switches
identify, select, and supply the various DC
voltages directly to the MULTIMETER. As an
alternative, test leads, plugged into the HI
and LO test jacks, can select the same DC
voltages by plugging into the 31 test jacks
that parallel the SIGNAL INPUT connector. The
test leads, in conjunction with the MULTIMETER
switch, can also be used to measure external DC
voltages, resistances, or currents.
Display and Deck Lighting
The ECS Tester uses a 0.4 inch high, seven
segment, LED display. A display test button and
display brightness control are also
provided.
A lamp located in the lid of the ECS Tester
provides deck lighting during nighttime
operation.
