Job Summary:

We are seeking a Technical Writer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be an active listener, well organized and possess a strong work ethic. The Technical Writer will be responsible for preparing a variety of texts, illustrations, documents, reports, drawings and manuals.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Organizes material and completes writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology.
  • Produces text, illustrations, documents, reports, drawings, and manuals as assigned.
  • Formats, reviews and edits proposals.
  • Acquires or verifies technical knowledge of subject by interviewing engineers, technicians, and production workers and by referring to specifications, sketches, engineering drawings, and literature written for similar equipment.
  • Conforms to publications standards and style guides.
  • Performs quality control inspection of publications to ensure the accuracy and quality of work.
  • Creates reports as required by management.
  • Maintains appropriate files.
  • Uses office equipment such as scanner, digital camera, copying machine, etc.
  • Selects photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts to illustrate material.
  • Maintains company Quality Management System.
  • Prints and binds documents.
  • Performs additional duties as required.

Job Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree, business school, or technical school preferred.
  • Familiar with Windows® -based word processor software. Adobe FrameMaker and CorelDraw. Photography and Visio experience a plus.
  • Minimum of three years of technical writing.
  • Ability to type 50+ wpm.
  • Able and willing to learn new software as required.
  • Must be well organized and an active listener.
  • Must possess a strong work ethic.

Systems Engineer

We are seeking a Systems Engineer to work collaboratively within our team of engineers. The Systems Engineer performs systems engineering activities identified by the Senior Systems Engineers, which may include development of systems and requirements, validation of requirements, and verification of implementation for certification and product assurance.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs Integration and test of avionic systems into aircraft programs.
  • Perform analysis of complex requirements into subsystem architectures, hardware and software designs and interface specifications.
  • Provide liaison activities for integration and support into customer architectures.
  • Coordinate and perform subsystem integration, testing (lab, ground and flight) and certification of aircraft avionic systems.
  • Provide engineering and technical support in all certification activities from Technical Standard Order (TSO) thru platform Type Certification (TC) or Supplemental Type Certification (STC).
  • Manage requirements and provide evidence of requirement verification and validation.
  • Identify and resolve system integration issues discovered during test activities.
  • Manage communication supplier activities that include but are not limited to requirement definition and validation, documentation review and processing, design analysis, qualification testing, and certification coordination.
  • Ensure that avionic solutions are within Engineering and Manufacturing scope, or determine an alternate method to meet product line requirements.
  • Become a subject matter expert in avionic system qualification, physical and functional integration and installation design.
  • Consistently provide feedback, ideas and solutions for decreasing time to market and improving the product integration process.
  • Continuously identify, measure, follow, and improve processes associated with product line integration.
  • Maintain the highest ethical standards and live by Howell ethics and business conduct policies.
  • Some travel required.
  • Performs additional duties as required.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field from accredited college or university.
  • 2+ years system integration (hardware\software) and FAA certification familiarity
  • Broad technical background in complex hardware and software integration
  • FAA certification knowledge from TSO thru TC/SCT activities.
  • General knowledge of aircraft and system level safety methods.
  • Strong verbal and customer relations skills. Ability to work with all levels of internal and external management, engineering, manufacturing, technical publications, and field engineering departments.
  • Good organization skills.
  • Ability to multi-task on many product lines and set priorities.
  • Must be a team player.

Software Engineer-II (Embedded Systems)

We are seeking a Software Engineer-II (Embedded Systems) to work collaboratively within our team of engineers to design, develop and maintain products and test system functionality.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in design, development, and maintenance of embedded software using RTOS (Real-Time Operating system) which is used for data acquisition, evaluation, and display systems for the Aerospace Industry
  • Coordinate system/software requirements, design, and code development and maintenance
  • Perform software verification and validation activities along with peer reviews of designs and software code
  • Perform software/hardware and system integration
  • Attend SOI audits with the FAA representatives and DER to certify the product
  • Support of flight test from development through certification
  • Prepare and present ideas for new/improved systems, addressing cost, schedule, and risks
  • Assist in design or develop programs of use in the company’s engineering projects aligned with DO-178B & C standards
  • Evaluate product demand from customer and express theoretical design to meet customer requirements
  • Translate technical guidance received from supervisor into usable data applicable to a particular project
  • Develop software test procedures, software programs, and related documentation
  • Day to day work with different microcontrollers (STM32F4 STM32F7-ARM based controllers) setting up their memory, assigning timers, ports and other peripherals, also communication protocols (ARINC825, ARINC429, RS232, RS422, I2C, UART, SPI, MODBUS) that are independent and codependent on other system variables to interact with larger mainframe devices
  • Work closely with hardware in a lab setting, and debug using lab equipment (e.g. spectrum analyzer, digital oscilloscope)
  • Perform source code management and version control management (GIT, Subversion and SourceSafe)
  • Perform additional duties as required

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field from accredited college or University
  • Three to five years of experience in engineering programming
  • Expert knowledge of embedded software and firmware development, including C and C++
  • Experience with aerospace applications (DO-178) is a plus
  • Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle
  • Knowledge in Graphical User Interface programming, preferably in C#
  • Ability to read schematics and debug digital hardware using oscilloscope, logic analyzer, or similar tools for troubleshooting
  • Must understand coding and OOP software design principles
  • Experience parsing and assembling of packets for use over the serial data ports on a system that has RTOS
  • Problem solving and analytical reasoning capabilities

Electronic Technician A

Job Summary:

We are seeking an Electronic Technician to join our team. Electronic Technicians build up, calibrate, test, troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic components, circuits, assemblies, and systems. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, possesses strong organization skills and works well under pressure and with minimum supervision.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate, calibrate, test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and electronic components, circuits, assemblies, systems, prototypes, etc. per applicable drawings and specifications.
  • Inform Assemblers of problems found during checkout and calibration of circuits, assemblies, etc. and train them as required to correct any Quality deficiencies.
  • Provide training and assistance to Assemblers and less experienced Electronics Technicians as required.
  • Conduct environmental tests such as temperature, vibration, and shock tests on components and completed assemblies.
  • Work with Design Engineers and Field Engineers to build up and test prototype systems and mock ups.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Job Requirements:

  • High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum four years’ experience in electronics assembly and repair.
  • Proficient in the use of standard electronic test equipment.
  • Familiarity with industry standard electronic assembly and repair techniques.
  • Must possess a strong work ethic and organizational skills.
  • Ability to be flexible and work well under pressure.
  • Ability to read blue prints and data sheets
  • Must be able to obtain an FAA Part 145 Repairman’s Certificate for work performed in the Part 145 Repair Station.
  • Familiarity with basic computer operation.
